None of our six nest boxes are occupied, though there is one complete bluebird nest in one box. There’s the start of a bluebird nest in another box but the grass and pine straw in the nest box hasn’t moved since it was placed in the structure. One box has the start of a chickadee nest, but it too hasn’t been worked on for several weeks.

The Cow Pasture nest box is empty.

The Explore the Wild nest box is also empty.

The Sailboat Pond nest box is vacant after having fledged four chickadees one week ago.

Though a chickadee started to bring in nest material to the Into the Mist nest box, it, or them, have not continued to do so. This box is empty.

After having fledged 5 bluebirds two weeks back, the Parking Deck East nest box has a few blades of grass and pine needles placed in the box by bluebirds. The material, though, has not moved since.

A bluebird nest sits atop a chickadee nest in the Parking Deck West box, but no sign of the bluebirds has been noted.

We’re into May and have had 9 birds fledge, 5 bluebirds and 4 chickadees. There’s plenty of time for successful nesting but it’s up to the birds to decide what to do.
