We now have fourteen nestlings in three separate nests. All birds are chickadees. One nest that contains nest material (chickadee) hasn’t been added to or rearranged since last week. One nest box is empty.
The Cow Pasture nest box is empty with no sign of activity.

The Explore the Wild eggs have hatched, though I can only count five chickadees in the nest. There were six eggs in the nest last week. Did one not hatch or survive or was it under the “pile” of nestlings?

The Sailboat Pond nest, which held four chickadee eggs last week now has four tiny nestlings.

The Into the Mist nest box remains inactive. A few pieces of moss and grass arranged loosely at the bottom of the box, but no further changes.

The nest box on the east side on the parking deck, which fledged five bluebirds last week has a new berry basket inside waiting for another brood.

The nest on the west side of the parking deck has five chickadee nestlings, growing strong.

So, with the seventh week of nesting season complete we have 14 chickadee nestlings in three nest boxes. Two nest boxes are empty, one having fledged five bluebirds. One has a partial nest but remains inactive.
Till next week, have a good one.
