Gray Squirrel

Just some photos of Eastern Gray Squirrels around the campus.

Enjoying a snack while perched on a Dawn Redwood limb.
Keeping an eye on me as I walk by, stop and take a photo.
Making sure all’s clear before venturing out to scoff up sunflower seeds below feeders in Catch the Wind.
All’s clear.
Wait, what’s that?
Whatever this squirrel is eating, it looks tasty.
Hanging out on the tree trunk.
Have a Happy!

Bye.

I think the farmyard’s orange squirrels are my favorite. There’s one that frequents Lightning’s yard that has white ears!

Love the Santa Hat! LOL. It’s becoming a holiday tradition. I remember the Blue Heron with the same hat one other year.

That’s right Lew, that was back in 2010. Hooded mergansers, herons, kingfishers, and squirrels have all donned their gay apparel, or at least the chapeau part of that apparel, for the season. If you look back on the 22nd or 23rd of December of each year you’ll see what I mean. For some reason, though, none of our wildlife caught the spirit in 2009, hence no picture that year (perhaps the economy was to blame). But last year, a towhee was so overcome by the season that it burst into song (Jingle Bells), albeit sans hat. I assume it was the spontaneity of the moment that moved the bird, it didn’t have time to shop around for a hat.
      Have a good one…
