I think the farmyard’s orange squirrels are my favorite. There’s one that frequents Lightning’s yard that has white ears!

Love the Santa Hat! LOL. It’s becoming a holiday tradition. I remember the Blue Heron with the same hat one other year.

That’s right Lew, that was back in 2010. Hooded mergansers, herons, kingfishers, and squirrels have all donned their gay apparel, or at least the chapeau part of that apparel, for the season. If you look back on the 22nd or 23rd of December of each year you’ll see what I mean. For some reason, though, none of our wildlife caught the spirit in 2009, hence no picture that year (perhaps the economy was to blame). But last year, a towhee was so overcome by the season that it burst into song (Jingle Bells), albeit sans hat. I assume it was the spontaneity of the moment that moved the bird, it didn’t have time to shop around for a hat.
