Posted by gregdodge October 21, 2015 A Handful of Photos from the Previous few Weeks A pine needle, fallen from a nearby tree, pierced the cap of a mushroom. Although they appear to be some sort of fungus they are actually cypress flower galls. The insect responsible is the cypress flower gall midge (Taxodiomyia cupressi). A grey hairstreak nectars on the male flowers of groundsel tree. A young northern brown snake stops to look at me as it makes its way across the path in Explore the Wild. Great blue heron at the end of the day. Same heron, same day, in close. Enjoy!
