Our new female red wolf has arrived. She came to us from Reflection Riding Arboretum & Nature Center in Chattanooga, TN. She is 5 years old and is part of the federal Species Survival Plan (SSP) for red wolves, one of the most endangered species in the world.
Although she arrived at the Museum on Thursday evening (11/3), she is currently spending her time in the kennel area of our Red Wolf Enclosure while she becomes accustomed to the sights, sounds and smells of her new home. When you visit the enclosure, stay quiet, look to your right for the kennel, and you may see her resting comfortably on a mound of straw thoughtfully placed there by the animal keepers.
I’ll be posting more photos as she acclimates to her surroundings and ventures out into the larger, open area of the enclosure.
Where did the female who was previously at MSL end up?
Our former resident female (1794) went to the same facility from which our new female (1858) came, Reflection Riding Arboretum & Nature Center in Chattanooga, TN. Hope she’s doing well.
