If you’ve been following events here at the Museum you no doubt already know that we have a new female red wolf. She came to us from Reflection Riding Arboretum & Nature Center in Chattanooga, TN back in November with the hopes of breeding with our male red wolf.

Whether or not these two wolves come together is entirely up to the individuals involved, the wolves themselves. With cautious optimism, I will say that they seem to be getting along rather well. If things progress the way they have been, I’d suggest there’s a good chance they will come together this February during the breeding season.

The two wolves rest together, howl together, and have even been seen frolicing together. Of course, when the hormones begin to flow, things could change. As I’ve said before, we’ll just have to wait and see what happens. But, I’m hopeful, and plan to be there to document it if they do engage in procreative behavior.
Great photos Greg. They are both out today in the snow
