Top Photo: Eastern bluebird eggs.
We still, as we did last week, have four active nests. However, we now have nestlings instead of eggs in all four of those nests.

As has been the case all season, the nest box at Cow Pasture hasn’t been touched. It’s empty.

Last week there were five chickadee eggs in the nest box at Explore the Wild. Though there may be one egg still left under the nestlings pictured here, it will probably hatch later in the day, the female adult was still in the box when the inspection was made.

There were three nestlings in the chickadee nest at the Sailboat Pond. All three eggs hatched.

It looks like we arrived too soon to see all five nestlings in the Into the Mist nest (they probably hatched after we left the site). Though I didn’t capture them both in the photo here, I saw two eggs under their soon-the-be nest mates (photo shows one egg). But to be sure, we’ll have to wait till next week to see if they actually hatch.

All four bluebird eggs have hatched at Parking Deck East nest box. This is our only active bluebird nest.

The Parking Deck West nest box has seen no activity. While it still has bluebird nest material within, it hasn’t been touched in weeks. Perhaps there will be a late season nest or second brood for this nest box.

All active nests have nestlings (perhaps 10 chickadees and 4 bluebirds). It looks as if all the active nests have hatched their eggs on the day of the inspections. Good timing, though we’ll have to wait to be sure if the remaining eggs actually do hatch. Two nest boxes remain empty (Cow Pasture and Parking Deck West).
