To Photo: Eastern bluebird eggs.
We have, as we did last week, four nests with eggs. All the eggs were being incubated, that is, there was an adult bird in the nest sitting on the eggs when the inspection door was opened. Egg counts in the nests were the same as last week indicating the females are done laying.

The Cow pasture nest box is empty.

The Explore the Wild nest has 5 chickadee eggs which were being incubated at the time of the inspection.

The Sailboat Pond nest box has 3 chickadee eggs. They too, were being incubated at the time of inspection.

A chickadee was incubating 5 eggs in the nest box at Into the Mist.

A bluebird flew from the Parking Deck East nest box as we made our weekly inspection of nest boxes. She was sitting on 4 eggs.

Although it looks like new nest material was brought into the bluebird nest at Parking Deck West, there are still no eggs, or even any real shape to the nest.

So, on the third week in April we have one empty nest (Cow Pasture), one partial bluebird nest (PKW), one bluebird nest with eggs (PKE), and three chickadee nests being incubated (Explore the Wild, Sailboat Pond, and Into the Mist).
I expect we’ll see some nestlings by next week’s inspections.
Have a nice week.
