Top Photo: Eastern bluebird eggs.
We have two nest boxes which contain nest material, both the work of eastern bluebirds. Another nest box had a visitor checking out its contents and location during the past week but has yet to commit.
The Cow Pasture and Explore the Wild nest boxes are empty.
The Sailboat Pond, too, is empty though it has, over the weeks, been inspected by both bluebirds and chickadees.

The Into the Mist nest box is inactive.
The nest box located on the east side of the parking deck has been worked on and looks to be nearly complete and ready for eggs. We’ll have to wait til next week to be sure the resident bluebirds follow up. They seem committed.

The nest box on the west side of the parking deck hasn’t been touched since last week’s inspection. The few pieces of pine straw and grass stems placed there by bluebirds remain in the same position as previously.

So, it’s early in the season and things are slowly moving forward, at least in one nest box. As always, things can change quickly. It’s all up to the birds.
See you next week.
