That’s right, it’s cold outside. It’s been in the teens most of the day (2/19) with single digits forecast for tonight and early tomorrow.
At 2:30 PM. Most likely the high for the day. (image from WeatherUnderground).
You can always go out and see who or what has been leaving tracks in the snow.
A raccoon and a bird cross paths.
A human and a raccoon just missed each other (probably by several hours).
A bird, probably a white-throated sparrow, hops up from bottom left, intersects another bird’s tracks, then makes a sharp right and continues out of the frame.
A bird hops between two sweetgum balls (left to right).
Is the mark to the right of the sweetgum ball the impression made by the seed ball as it fell from the tree? Notice the tiny seeds.
Don’t let the cold keep you from enjoying the out-of-doors. Of course, dress warmly, but don’t let lack of heat stop you from doing what you want to do.
Oh, by the way, it’s in the 80s in the Butterfly House’s Conservatory.
