Red Wolf Names and Family Fun

Top Photo: From left to right, Adeyha, Cedar, Juniper, Oak, Sassafras, Maple (or it could be).

The photo above depicts the two parent red wolves here on exhibit, Adeyha and Oak, and all but one of the pups born April 21, 2024 at the museum (the fifth pup is off to the side). And thanks to you who voted for them, the pups now have names.

  • Cedar
  • Juniper
  • Maple
  • Sassafras
  • Tupelo

I for one cannot distinguish who is who among the quickly growing canids (although the one in the photo giving you the “sideway” glance is a good candidate for the name Sassafras). No, I personally cannot as yet tell with any certainty or consistency one from another. As soon as I figure it out I’ll post my findings.

But in the mean time, just enjoy the wolves and help celebrate their lives. They are a healthy, content, and dare I say happy, family.

With that in mind, the family has been frequently seen together in the mornings playing and rumbling and tumbling for all to see.

So, enjoy a few pictures of their familiar togetherness.

Something caught their eyes, except one who is about to attack Oak.
Roughhousing 1.
Roughhousing 2.
The chase is on.
Caught you.
A swim.
“What or who to bother next?”

Enjoy!
