Nest Box Update 5.27.25

Top Photo: Eastern bluebird eggs.

Though one nest box has a handful of twigs (house wren) in its walls it is essentially unused, not having nest material added to it since the last week of April. Four of our nest boxes are completely empty having no nest material in them at all. One nest box has had bluebird nest material since the first week in March and finally has a full clutch of 5 eggs.

The Cow Pasture nest box has a small amount of house wren nest material, that is, twigs, but hasn’t been touched since the last week of April or first week of March.

No progress at Cow Pasture.

The Explore the Wild, Sailboat Pond, Into the Mist, and PKE nest boxes are all empty. There has been no new activity at any of these boxes.

Three empty nest boxes besides this one at Explore the Wild.

After remaining untouched for weeks, the nest in the box at PKW finally has a committed pair of bluebirds tending to five eggs. The female was incubating as I opened the inspection door this morning.

Five bluebird eggs at PKW.

We have one active nest box. Though there is house wren nest material in the nest box at the Cow Pasture, it doesn’t seem as though the nest is currently active. A pair of eastern bluebirds are currently incubating five blue eggs at the nest box on the west side of the parking deck. All other nest boxes are empty.

Till next week, enjoy!
