Top Photo: Eastern bluebird, (male).
This is the first nest box inspection of the season on our 6 nest box Bluebird Trail. All the boxes had been previously cleaned and readied for occupation. Only one of the boxes showed activity.
The Cow Pasture nest box is empty, no activity.

The Explore the Wild nest box too, is empty.
The nest box on the service road to Into the Mist has an empty berry basket inside.
Not surprisingly, the nest box on the east side of the Parking Deck has within it a complete bluebird nest. The parking deck nest boxes are typically the first to see action.

This one is ready for eggs. However, although it’s been in the 70s and 80s this week I suspect the temperature will get back to normal with highs in the 60s before too long. That may put a hold on any further activity in the nest boxes in general.
The nest box located on the west side of the Parking Deck has not been touched.

So, there you have it, Spring is here and at least one bluebird is reacting to the season by building a nest inside one of our 6 nest boxes.
I can’t wait till next week.
