I’m no expert on this, but it looks to me like the persimmons just outside the door of the Main Building, leading to Loblolly Park, are ready for picking. If I’m wrong, let me know!
The fruit, for the most part, is still clinging to the tree, but I found several on the ground, mashed by hundreds of little feet as they play in the park.
So, if there were any of you reading this who, in the recent past, had expressed a desire to bake some muffins, bread, or pie for the rest of us to sample, now might be the time to do it.
I haven’t seen many animals eating the fruit, but I don’t spend much time in Loblolly Park so I may have missed the animal activity.
Here’s one more shot, a close look at the fruit.

What do you think?
Opossums love them too.
You’re right LarryB, those possums do like persimmons. But then, what don’t they like?!
I think we should follow Ranger Ro’s suggestion and pick them and sell them to the localvore chefs who are cooking with them!
It’d be a shame to see them go to waste.
