Nest Box Update 3.28.26

Top Photo: Eastern bluebird (male).

We now have 6 eggs (chickadees) and 5 nestlings (bluebirds) to observe. Carolina chickadees occupy three nest boxes and eastern bluebirds one. Two nest boxes remain untouched (Cow Pasture and Into the Mist).

The Cow Pasture nest box has seen no activity. It’s still early in the season so I suspect we may still see some interest in this location near the Train Tunnel.

Explore the Wild nest box was empty last week. It now has a complete chickadee’s nest inside. No eggs yet.

The Sailboat Pond chickadee nest had a complete nest last week. It’s tough to see but there was one egg in the nest as of Saturday (3.28.26).

The five bluebird eggs that were in the nest box at Parking Deck East have hatched. There are now five healthy looking bluebird nestlings huddled together in the nest.

There have been three additional chickadee eggs deposited in the Parking Deck West nest box as of Saturday (3.28.26). They were being incubated as we approached the nest.

Five bluebird nestlings have hatched and three more nests are either ready for chickadee eggs or have eggs being incubated. Two nest boxes are still empty.

See you next week!
