Farewell to the Oka and Martha Pack

Oka and Martha came to us through the Wolf Conservation Center in South Salem, NY in the fall of 2024. They’ll be heading back to their old stomping grounds this fall, November to be exact. This, after having a litter of three strong and healthy pups, Ember, Proton, and Scuppernong, who will be shipping out with them. We wish them well.

The red wolf family will be trading places with a pair of wolves named Carolina (F2293) and Jacques (M2152). Carolina was born here at the Museum of Life and Science in 2019 and Jacques was born on April 28, 2016 at the Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium, Tacoma, Washington.

Here’s just a few shots of our departing wolves before they leave central North Carolina for the southeast corner of New York. They’ll be in a larger enclosure with more room for the pups to stretch out and grow into those long legs and big ears.

Martha spent much of the daylight hours in one of our two wolf dens (den 2).

Will Carolina and Jacques bring a new litter to the museum come spring? We hope so, but it’s entirely up to them. We’ll just have to wait and see.
