Top Photo: Eastern bluebird eggs.
We now have four nest boxes with bluebird nest material inside. Two of those nests are ready for eggs and two are not.
The Cow Pasture nest box is empty. It has no nest material within.

The Explore the Wild nest box is also empty.

Our newest location, the Sailboat Pond nest box, contains a nearly completed bluebird nest inside its cedar walls.

The Into the Mist nest box has been acquired by bluebirds. The nest inside looks ready to go.

The nest box on the east side of the parking deck has been occupied by bluebirds since the first nest box inspection on 4 March. The nest is complete and appears ready to go, but still no eggs.

Work has been done on the bluebird nest on the west side of the parking deck, but it’s still not a complete nest. More work needs to be carried out.

With 4 bluebird nests started or completed we are well on our way to a good season. But, as I always say at this place in the update, things can change in an instant during nesting season. Any number of things could discourage one of the bluebird pairs; predators, storms or competition from other species.
And, house wrens haven’t arrived yet. Things can change drastically with the arrival of those little nest annexing Troglodytidaen passerines.
See you next week.
