Who’s that?

What’s that under the bench out in Explore the Wild?

One of our resident Gray Foxes searches for leftovers.

I saw the fox searching under the bench out in front of the restrooms in Explore the Wild as I rounded the bend from the Lemur Exhibit. I paused and watched as the little canid reached under the bench and grabbed a morsel of food, perhaps a goldfish left by one of the field-tripping schools kids earlier in the day.

The fox finally spotted me and we briefly stared at each other.

The stare-down.

I had to move to take the photos, causing the realization in the fox that I was not an inanimate object in the middle of the path. The fox decided it was time to move on. Both the fox and I continued our routines.

Oh, by the way, if you happen to encounter one of our foxes, remember that they are wild animals and should not be tempted with food or approached for cuddling.

Have a fun day!
