Battling Behemoths

It’s spring and the snapping turtles are feeling the urge.

Two large snappers go through their mating routine just off the boardwalk in Explore the Wild (4/19/11).

I’m not sure if these two snappers ever connected, whether they actually got together and mated, but one of them was seen hauled out on a rock later the same day.

A large snapper rests on a rather small rock in the Wetlands. Presumably, this is one of the two turtles seen attempting to mate earlier in the day.
